From Uruguay to Paraiso. Celebrating Bodega Garzon.

This September, our neighbors at Amara at Paraiso are bringing a taste of Uruguay to Miami for a very special occasion. Bodega Garzón is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its landmark winery, and residents are invited to mark the milestone with an intimate evening of Uruguayan wine, food and hospitality.

The anniversary has a wonderful story behind it. Alejandro Bulgheroni and his wife Bettina first discovered the Garzón property in 1999, envisioning what they described as their own “little Tuscany in Uruguay.” That vision culminated in the official opening of Bodega Garzón in March 2016, set among the rolling hills of Uruguay’s Maldonado region.

What makes Garzón particularly interesting is its sense of place. Its vineyards sit approximately 18 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, where cooling ocean breezes meet ancient, rocky soils known locally as balasto. The estate is divided into more than 1,000 individual vineyard parcels with different orientations, exposures and microclimates, allowing its wines to express remarkably distinct characteristics.

Garzón has also become internationally recognized for sustainability and innovation. Its gravity-fed winery generates wind and photovoltaic energy, and in 2019 Garzón announced that it had become the first winery in the world to achieve LEED certification across its entire facility, including winemaking and hospitality operations. The winery was also named Wine Enthusiast’s 2018 New World Winery of the Year.

One Night, Four Courses

For the anniversary celebration, Guest Chef Nicolás Acosta will join the Amara culinary team to create a specially curated four-course dinner inspired by Uruguayan flavors and paired with wines from Bodega Garzón.

The evening begins with elevated canapés and seasonal seafood, including snapper crudo, smoked trout with roe, and cured wahoo accompanied by summer vegetables. The menu then moves into richer flavors with duck confit served alongside celery root and a fennel-orange salad.

The centerpiece arrives family-style: a wood-grilled rib eye accompanied by bone marrow salsa verde, roasted mushrooms, potato gratin and chicories—a particularly fitting pairing for a winery from a country where both wine and cooking over fire are deeply embedded in the culinary culture.

Dessert closes the evening with coffee semifreddo, dark chocolate and toasted hazelnuts.

A Special Evening for Paraiso Residents

The experience is $150++ per person, beginning at 6:30 PM, with the seated dinner starting at 7:00 PM. Paraiso residents can also enjoy their 20% resident dining discount for the event.

With Bodega Garzón celebrating a decade since the opening of its winery, this is more than another dinner at our neighborhood favorite. It is an opportunity to discover one of Uruguay’s leading modern wine estates through the food and wines that tell its story—without having to travel much farther than downstairs.
